WLA, 1951-10-10. Mrs. Luella B. Lingle, 42, 7524 Austin Ave., Van Nuys, was taken to Santa Monica Emergency Hospital with a fractured arm and probable fractured nose plus severe lacerations after her car crashed into a power pole approximately one mile south of the Mulholland tunnel on Sepulveda. Mrs. Lingle told police she was going north on Sepulveda about 30 or 35 mph and apparently went to sleep. Mrs. Lingle is employed at the same hospital -- Santa Monica Hospital, in the diet kitchen. The impact caused the upper portion of the power pole to snap off, and this portion of the pole attached cross-arms, insulators, etc. were supported in the air by high voltage wires which remained intact. The hospital says she is in fair condition. 4:00 am"
