Supplementary text: The hostel is the home of young women of various beliefs and cultural backgrounds, who are studying in Madras. Since the Independence in 1947 the number of students in India has risen from 230,000 to 2.2 mill. The Madras University, founded 1857, had 32,466 students in 1970, of which 12, 862 were women. A larger WSCH will now be built, funded by the Danish development aid. (Used in: Dansk Missionsblad no. 11/1972)
