At first he worked for the Kamba mission. 1899 he founded together with missionary Säuberlich a station in Mulango, 1900 he changed over to the Chagga mission. In Kidia, the station Old Moshi, he built a chapel and several boarding schools. 1901 he established a station in Shira with missionary Jessen. One year later he provided support for missionary Krause with the foundation of the station in Nkoaranga. From 1907 to 1910 he led the school of craftsmen in Marangu.; Franz Ernst Eichhorn (1882-?), from Thuringia, served the Leipzig Mission as a craftsman. From 1908 to 1909 he led together with missionary Fickert the school of craftsmen in Marangu. After one year he returned to Germany because of sickness
