“ANMC ground.” Landscape view of long thatched huts in front of large palm trees. The African Native Medical Corps (ANMC) arrived in Dar es Salaam in July 1917 and the, mainly Ugandan, orderlies worked with the Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC) during the East African Campaign. ❧ The image is from an album chronicling the war time experiences of Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) in German East Africa and Portuguese East Africa with the Royal Army Medical Corps. During this time he would meet Dr John W Arthur which in turn would lead to his missionary work at Chogoria in Kenya
