The rear of Morrison Cottage was situated to the right of where this photograph was taken. A stone workman's house is in the foreground. A Chinese laborer can be seen at the entrance. The entire site was cleared for construction over the course of 2000 days labor and was superintended by a Mr. Chen Ding. They had to quarry through solid rock to clear this landing. The site is approx. 800 ft. above sea level. June Cottage was used as a beacon for ships entering the nearby harbor.
