Parrett sailed to Madagascar in 1862 as part of a large missionary party comprising Dr and Mrs Andrew Davidson , Mr and Mrs Robert Toy, schoolmaster Charles Thomas Stagg and Mrs Stagg, Reverend John Duffus and Reverend William Edward Cousins.
