He contributed greatly to the battle against tuberculosis and served at Jammalamadugu hospital in the Telegu district [now Andhra Pradesh] until 1912, when he moved to the Wardlaw Thompson hospital at Chikkaballapur [now Chikballapur]. He was a leader of the South India United Church and was awarded the Kaisar-i Hind medal for Public Service in 1908.
