Maryknoll priests and Dominican guests at Hong Kong, China, 1926

This is a photograph taken while seeing Fr. Toomey off to Manila. "Three of our Dominican guests, Frs. Barrett, Burke and Cassidy, O.P. and Frs. Toomey, Murray and Bro. Benedict."; Born in Massachusetts, Fr. Toomey came to Maryknoll in 1921 and was ordained to the priesthood on January 26, 1930. His first assignment was to Wuchow, China in 1930. In 1936 he moved to Kweilin. In 1940 his health brought him back to the United States. He returned to China briefly but eventually served the people of Hawaii. -- Rev. Murray was born in Cambridge, MA. He entered Maryknoll in 1914 and was ordained in 1921. He was assigned to Kwangsi, South China, where he remained until 1927. Afterwards he worked in Hawaii. -- Born in New York, Cornelius F. Barry, worked for the Edison Company and served in the Army during World War I. He entered Maryknoll in 1922 and was assigned to China in 1924. He was assigned to the house in Kongmoon. In 1926 he was transferred to Hong Kong where his skill in office work became an important contribution. Two years later he went to Fushun to handle the procure duties for the growing mission of Bishop Lane. He remained there until the outbreak of World War II when he was interned with other Maryknollers and repatriated on the SS Gripsholm
