Few non-christians attend these schools."; Annotation: "Unsere Kutschuk-Mittelschule hatte zur Zeit der Blüte über 100 Schüler. Eine Mittelschule entspricht unserm Gymnasium. Die Schüler sind meistens im Alter von 16-22 Jahren. Nach heutigem Lehrplan haben die Knaben 6 Jahre Volksschule, 2 Jahre Untermittelschule, 4 Jahre Obermittelschule & wenn sie in unsre Dienste gehen wollen noch 2 resp. 4 Jahre Lehrer- oder Predigerseminar. Wenige Heiden besuchen auch diese Schulen."; Note translation: NB "Gymnasium" is the German-speaking equivalent of an old English Grammar School i.e. an academic secondary school with restricted entry leading to higher education. Exactly what the final short sentence about non-christians means I am not sure. It could refer to all the schools named in the caption - but since non-christians are hardly likely to attend a pastor's seminary I have translated the comment as if referring to the whole preceding passage.
