Detail 3 of 3 of Mother Watts, Watts, 1988. Watts Towers Arts Center, exterior, 1727 East 107th Street (between Willowbrook Avenue and Alameda Street), Watts. Cox and four young people painted this mural without a pre-drawn design. Their inspiration was all around them -- from the houses across the street to the tires discarded along the nearby train tracks to the helicopters that frequently buzz overhead.
