Abstract

Photograph of Indian rancheros north of the base of Mount Rubidoux on the Jurupa Ranch, ca.1890. There are several long, low wooden structures with straw roofs that make up the ranchos. Most of the buildings are in a valley at center or low on the slopes of the mountains that surround it. There are nine Indians in the foreground, including a woman and several young boys. They are dressed in Western clothing consisting of shirts, pants, and hats, and the woman is wearing a dress. There are several very large oak trees in the valley at left, and a tall mountain is visible in the background at center
