A pile of something is contained by wooden grid work at the extreme left, in front of a rock face. Mountains are visible in the background. Text written-in below the image reads, "California Life and Traffic" and identifies the subject and area. Vischer's signature, which usually appears in the lower right of his drawings, is not visible
