Photograph of a hilltop view of the Laguna Beach pier, looking towards the ocean, ca.1901. The wooden pier acts as a bridge between the shore and a large rock in the water that acts as an anchor for the end of the structure. The shore is very rocky, with long, low rock formations jutting out into the water for almost half the length of the pier. The water is very calm, with only a handful of very small waves impacting with the rocks on shore. Part of the hill from which the photograph is taken is visible in the lower right corner of the picture
