The first Los Angeles High School can be seen in the middle, at left, located atop the Poundcake (later Court) Hill. In the foreground, at left, what appears to be a church building and what seems to be a residence are visible. A line of other Victorian-style residences line Broadway (then Fort Street) to the right. In the close background, at center, the spire of the First Presbyterian Church is visible; the church was located at south-east corner with Second Street. A hill, possibly Sugarloaf Hill, is partially visible to the right. The road is apparently unpaved. See also CHS-355
