My interest in rock and roll music originated with the introduction of the music In the 1950\u27s. As rock and roll continued to develop and expand, the music experienced various levels of conversion. It will be the purpose of this paper to examine the multifarious faces of rock and roll with particular emphasis on the acid rock period ·that began in the Sixties. Acid rock\u27s pervasive influence permeated not only the music industry, but also a youth subculture and Introduced a method of communication. and life style to America that precluded its being Ignored. In order to accurately reproduce the spirit of this period, quotes and song lyrics are presented verbatim. The language and color of the counterculture ls also examined In Its original form.
