An Examination of David Mamet\u27s World View

Over the past twenty years David Mamet has proven himself to be one of the most prolific and articulate voices in the American Theatre. The quality and quanity [sic] of his artistic output as a playwright, screenwriter and essayist is unequaled in the contemporary theatre. Although a great deal has been written about his dramatic works, very little examination of his numerous essays has been done. It is through these essays that one is best able to reflect upon Mamet\u27s world view and it is my hope, through gaining a more thorough understanding of this view, that new light will be shed on the dramatic pieces that he produces. After a biographical sketch of Mamet in Chapter One, I intend to examine the essays found in Writing In Restraurants [sic] and Some Freaks (hereafter abbreviated as WIR and SF) with the goal of exploring Mamet\u27s world view
