While editor of an employee magazine for two-and-a-half years, the author became convinced that the editors of the more than 2000 industrial publications in the United States had urgent need of some accurate and simple method for determining what effects their publications were having on their readers. It was for the purpose of helping industrial editors develop such a method, that the author undertook this study. It is hoped that it will serve as a model for other editors and will help them establish a guide for their daily work
