Leaf segments of mature Phalaenopsis plants were confirmed to induce protocorm-like bodies when they were excised from proximal, unexpanded parts of the youngest leaf and cultured on MURASHIGE and SKOOG medium (1962) supplemented with 1 ppm α-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA), 10ppm adenine and 10ppm N^6-benzyladenine (BA). The protocorm-like bodies developed into plantlets on the medium recommended for orchid seed germination
