Diplomsko delo je vpogled v način kako Irvine Welsh predstavlja sodobno škotsko družbo v romanu "Trainspotting". Pomen romana se kaže v spretnosti prikazati osebe z obrobja družbe kot tipične predstavnike deviantnosti. Istočasno pa avtor z vidika marginalnih skupin kritično prikaže tudi širšo družbo.The thesis is an attempt to explore the way Irvine Welsh presents the realities of contemporary Scotland in Trainspotting. The novel\u27s greatest value lies in its ability to portray its marginalized characters as textbook examples of deviance. By focusing on the subculture, however, it also manages to critically depict the mainstream against which deviance is defined
