[[abstract]]The older population increases due to advances in medical technology. This leads to the growth of number of male elders suffering from prostate cancer. Prostate specific antigen (PSA) is the most common serum marker for diagnosing prostate cancer. Study found that the specific nucleic acid sequence can bind to non-nucleic acid targets with high affinity and specificity in in vitro screening technology. These nucleic acid sequences are also called as aptamers. Aptamers have the same function with antibodies. Previous studies also found that RNA aptamers could be used as therapeutic drug carriers for prostate cancer treatment.
