[[abstract]]This paper presents a low cost dimmable light-emitting diode (LED) driver controlled simply by photo-resistor for regulating the LED voltage and current as a result. Under universal input voltage operation, automatically adjust brightness can be achieved as ambient light changes. The operation principles and design considerations of the studied LED driver are analyzed and discussed based upon the Multisim and IsSpice simulation results. A laboratory prototype is also designed and tested to verify the feasibility
