[[abstract]]In recent years, the power quality (PQ) problems have drawn much attention due to widespread use of nonlinear loads in power systems. These distortions may lead to failures or malfunctions of sensitive devices connected to the power systems and cause lots of cost for the end users. Therefore, effective detection for such problems is indispensable. The effective detection and identification of voltage variation events is an important task for the power system monitoring. In this paper, a simple rule-based assessment method for voltage variation events by applying the filter bank and adaptive filter is presented.
