Applying CMMI to the Process Improvement of New Product Development

[[abstract]]In recent years, China owns the competitiveness of lower-cost in manufacturing and production. However, in the past decades, the manufacturers in Taiwan have distinguished human resources in mass productions, and currently they are facing the toughest challenges ever in the competitive market. In order to maintain the competitiveness of the enterprise, the enterprise makes a lot of efforts to enhance the development capability of new product and continue developing innovative products to increase business value. Therefore, this is an important issue for the manufacturing industry to stay in Taiwan. In this research, Causal Analysis and Resolution process area of the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) combining PDCA Deming Cycle is applied to establish continuous improvement process in new product development. According to the results of this research, the communication interface of the new product development is redefined, and new evaluation methods are adopted to evaluate the performance of the process improvement. Through full empowerment from the top management and good coordination among stakeholders, it can reduce the cost of process improvement and increase the adaptability of process improvement in the organization. Finally, the outcomes of this research could be good references for the process improvement on new product development and assist the electronic engineers in new product development
