The Influence of Job Stress and Leisure Participation on Physical and Mental Health of Elementary School Teachers in Ping-Tung County

[[abstract]]This research aimed to understand the influence of job stress and leisure participation on physical and mental health of elementary school teachers in Ping-Tung County. Self-developed questionnaire was used in the survey. 612 out of 696 questionnaires were distributed and collected with a return rate of 88%. Descriptive statistics, item analysis, factor analysis, ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation, Canonical correlation, and multiple regression were used to analyze the data. The findings are as follows: 1. Elementary school teachers have low job stress, moderate leisure participation, and high physical and mental health. 2. Significant differences were found between job stress and background variables of sex, age, job position, years of teaching, and marriage status. 3. Significant differences were found between leisure participation and background variables of sex, age, job position, years of teaching, educational background, and marriage status. 4. Canonical correlation existed between job stress and physical and mental health. 5. There is positive correlation between leisure participation and physical and mental health. 6. Job stress and leisure participation can predict physical and mental health of elementary school teachers
