[[abstract]]Due to its long course and tendency of becoming chronic, patients with schizophrenia are often unable to take care of themselves, and rely on institutional or community resources, as well as main caregivers, for care. The mental health system often focuses its health care mission on alleviating patients’ symptoms, and neglects caregivers’ needs, let alone their quality of life and burden.
