This analysis combines the nonlinear hydrodynamic fluid-film forces to the dynamical equation of motion, which then may be numerically integrated to obtain the transient behavior of the journal. Horizontal, vertical, and unbalanced journals are considered as well as the transient response to loading, both constant and cyclic (rotating and unidirectional).
