Over the past several years I've conducted a personal study of Department of Defense practices and activities. My company has no business whatsoever with the Department of Defense, so my interest related strictly to the observation of D-O-D methodologies, their analytical techniques and the usefulness of these to the management of large corporations. In particular, this question puzzled me: Why were many observers labeling Robert McNamara a "great" manager? I found this: There are many significant "values" in observing the D-O-D, as their managerial problems are bigger and more complex.
