Series title: Confederate war etchings Abraham Lincoln sits on a chair while leaning over a table writing the Emancipation Proclamation, his left foot stepping on a bound copy of the U.S. Constitution. Demon faces can be seen on the table legs and a winged demon is holding Lincoln's ink well. In the background is a portrait of John Brown as "St. Ossawatomie," and a provocative depiction of the slave revolt in "St. Domingo" is framed on the wall. The head of a statue of Columbia is covered with a Scottish Tam O'Shanter cap. Reprinted in the 1880s from original plates created by Volck in the 1860s.
