Report 40 New Influenza Cases

• The influenza situation in Spokane showed no tendency to be come less serious yesterday • Spokane’s total is now 540 cases• Dr. John B. Anderson, City Health Officer is being besieged to make some hospital arrangement to care for cases which can not provide medical and nursing attention for themselves• Dr. Anderson will call the Red Cross influenza emergency committee together at noon in an effort to get some central plant which can serve as an information bureau• The Lewis and Clark sanitarium has arranged for 20 beds to care for influenza cases and Miss Ethel Butts of Deaconess Hospital is seeking nurses to care for influenza cases• 6 cases were reported at Deer Park yesterday• Considerable consternation was spread around the hospitals yesterday when a rumor that laundries would refuse to collect linen from houses where patients had influenza was started• There was no basis for the rumorsNewspaper article
