Health Lid May Go Off At Once

• Declaring the influenza epidemic to be checked and under control, the Citizens’ Committee last night recommended to Dr. B.F. Simon and the city health authorities that the “lid” be removed from the city at once or in a few days, leaving the time of opening to the discretion of Dr. Simon• Chairman S.W. Dittenhofer recommended that the matter be taken up with Minneapolis health authorities, with it being understood that Minneapolis intended to lift the lid tomorrow and that both cities could lift the ban simultaneously• Dr. B.F. Simon said that he had talked with Minneapolis City Health Commissioner H.M. Guilford but received the “unsatisfactory” response that the Minneapolis commissioner is undecided whether to open Minneapolis or keep it closed until after Christmas• St. John’s hospital now has 100 beds available and it is not believed it will be necessary to use St. John’s hospital for longer than a few days• “The committee [Citizens’] has expended about $1,000 for printing.
