• Dr. Baker: “The recurrence of the influenza epidemic in Louisville is of a much milder form than that of last fall.”• Deaths from influenza have been slight; deaths from pneumonia are only a little more than the average for the time of year. • Dr. Baker: “Statistics in my office show that Louisville escaped with the smallest death rate of any city in the country from the epidemic when it was so virulent last fall. From September 1, 1918, to January 1, 1919, only 1,061 died from influenza and pneumonia out of 9,586 cases reported during that period. There were only 161 deaths from influenza, while the big toll came from the big types of pneumonia, said to have been superinduced by influenza.”Newspaper article1
