Newcomb Has 32 Influenza Cases

• Dr. Stafford, superintendant of Charity Hospital, sent 12 more nurses to Camp Beauregard to help with the influenza epidemic. • Dr. W. H. Robin, superintendant of the city board of health, reports that there are 32 cases of influenza at Sophie Newcomb college. All cases are “convalescent.” • A steamship, El Monte, arrived Monday with eight cases of influenza aboard. All patients but two are on the mend. The two who are still sick were sent to Charity Hospital. • No new cases reported to Dr. Robin from Algiers Training Station or West End. Total number of cases from Algiers is 75. • 55 cases from the parishes were reported to Dr. Dowling. • Camp Martin, located at Tulane University, is reportedly quarantined and there are no influenza cases present. The camp just received new recruits. The quarantine is the customary 14 day period for newly drafted men.Newspaper article
