School Holidays To Be Curtailed

• “State Superintendent Recommends Using Time to Make Up Lessons Lost During Ban”• It has been recommended schools eliminate Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays except for vacation on the day itself to make up time lost during the ban• Seattle has already moved in that direction. All grade schools keep the same hours as high school, 8:30AM to 3:10PM and the Christmas and Easter holidays have already been shortened and days have been added in June at the end of the school year• Seattle will get the usual Thanksgiving holiday vacation next week• Seattle schools will follow their usual examination schedule; country schools are not using them this year – students are getting into high school on teacher recommendation• In WA state, Saturday sessions are encouraged as needed but will not be allowed in the state budget• In most cases, schools only need to make up 10-15 days to meet their state requirementsNewspaper article
