Churches, Theaters, Lodges and Schools Are Ordered Closed

• The board of health yesterday issued orders to close all churches, theaters, public and private schools, sewing circles, secret and fraternal lodges, and places where people congregate• Liberty loan activities are expressly exempted from the provisions of the order. The campaign for the raising of the Charleston apportionment will go forward pursuant to the plans which have been announced• Board of Health calls on the chief of police to see that the order is complied with; the order is already in effect and will remain so until rescinded• The Citadel was the first institution in Charleston to take drastic action because of influenza—all 375 cadets were furloughed until further notice.
