Red Cross Will Combat Disease

• 1,000 yards of gauze given to local authorities by Red Cross. The gauze will be used to make gauze masks for volunteer nurses, taking care of influenza patients. • Nurses are “urgently needed” all over state. School teachers (currently not working because of schoo l closures) are asked to volunteer their services if they have been at all trained in nursing. • Reports from across the state show that epidemic is growing in populated cities. • Golden, CO—Colorado School, probably the only school that continued to hold classes today. The epidemic has barely shown a presence at the school and so classes were thought to be justified. • Sterling, CO—29 mild cases of influenza reported. All public places closed. • Boulder, CO—1 death and 239 cases are reported. • Delta, CO—“Number of new cases.” Public schools will be closed. • Pueblo, CO—7 new cases of Spanish influenza were recorded, making total of 27. 1 death. • Fort Morgan, CO—Public meetings were cancelled today. 15 cases were reported. 2 deaths.
