Board Favors Short Holiday

*City board of education decided to shorten Thanksgiving vacation at a meeting last night; also tentatively decided to shorten Xmas vacation from 2 wks to just 1, to make up for time lost due to flu *Schools with permission of health authorities opened with full attendance [NB: it is possible not all Davidson Cty schools opened yesterday]*H.C. Weber is Supt of schools; A.E. Hill was also present at meeting but his post was not indicated*In his report on the months of Oct/Nov, Weber states that schools were closed Oct. 8; he says that salaries will be awarded to teachers despite closure*Weber announces that curriculum for fall was modified (‘informational topics’ were dropped) so that students will be on track for spring semester; copy of readjusted curriculum has been made available to all teachers*Weber: ‘The schools with the permission of the health authorities opened with full attendance and with a spirit to do the best to make up for the lost time.’Newspaper article
