Theater Owners Would Lift Ban

• Theater men are clamoring for the removal of the influenza ban or the setting of an early date at which they may resume business on a normal basis• Dr. Anderson, City Health officer has indicated that there will be no modification of the influenza regulations until after the first of the year• Mr. Stilwell, proprietor of four theaters said in a letter to Dr. Anderson, “I believe this is the sentiment of all of the theater managers in the city. If you think it will drag along until the first of the year I believe it is up to you to let us know at once so we can close as most of us can not afford to lose any more money running the way we are now”• Dr. Anderson replied to Mr. Stilwell, saying “I have given this matter very deliberate and very mature consideration and my obligations to the public constrain me to deny your request and concurrently indicate that the ban will remain as now put until at least the early part of January. If the conditions at that time are sufficiently improved to warrant it, there will be a complete lifting of the regulations now in force. I assure you that I regret very much the conditions necessitating the decision herein set out.”Newspaper article
