Fundamental considerations in the design of boiling reactors are discussed. It is shown that two types of stability are available to steam-generating reactors, the low-steam-content type of stability corresponding to reactors of the Borax design. The other type of stability occurs in the high-steam-content region and is designated as "empty tube" stability.Work performed at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory."Operated for the United States Atomic Energy Commission by the General Electric Company, Contract No. W-31-109 Eng-52.""KAPL-1136.""May 17, 1954."Includes bibliographical references (p. 36).Fundamental considerations in the design of boiling reactors are discussed.
