Results show that: (1) Ratios of principal stresses remain essentially constant during loading; (2) distributions of strain in the plastic case are less uniform than in the elastic case, although distributions of stress are more uniform; (3) the deformation that can be accepted by the member depends mainly on the maximum octahedral shear strain of the materials; and (4) the added load that the member can sustain between the onset of yielding and failure depends on octahedral shear stress-strain relation of the material.A method, based on the deformation theory and employing the finite-strain concept, was developed to solve plane-stress problems in the strain hardening range of circular membrane, rotating disk, and infinited plate with circu...
