This report presents a chart showing the results of a study to determine those factors of airplane design and mass characteristics which influence the tail spin in such a manner as to make the spinning motion a series of violent rolling and yawing oscillations. This chart shows an empirical relationship between long fuselage nose lengths (side-area moment factor) and large distributions of mass along the fuselage (negative inertia yawing-moment parameters).
