An instrument is described that can be used to measure the thickness of zirconium cladding on a metallic uranium base. The instrument operates on the eddy current principle. The sensing element is a hand-held probe. Cladding thickness changes of 1/4 mil can be detected in the range of 5 to 25 mils thickness. The sensitivity of the instrument is only slightly affected by temperature changes and input power variations."Instruments (TID-4500, 15th Ed.).""Printed for the United States Atomic Energy Commission Contract AT(07-2)-1.""September 1959.""DP-408."Includes bibliographical references (p. 7).An instrument is described that can be used to measure the thickness of zirconium cladding on a metallic uranium base.
