The evidence in favor of the Shakespearean authorship is of the slenderest. First ascribed to Shakespeare by the bookseller Francis Kirkman. It has since been attributed to Anthony Brewer, Michael Drayton, Thomas Heywood, George Wilkins and others--Cf.
