The University Archives has become an integral part of an academic institution. It has met its role as the repository for the rich history of an institution. They have met the challenges of a changing environment at many points in their history. The most recent change being the addition of born-digital materials into their collections. However, there is an opportunity to collaborate with another unit within academic libraries. The introduction and growth of institutional repositories (IR) on college campuses has provided an opportunity for university archives.
