Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a worldwide problem, and people with T2D have impaired postprandial glycemia (PPG). While current pharmaceutical therapies are targeted to reduce glycosylated hemoglobin and may not be effective in improving PPG, exercise is an effective treatment to enhance postprandial glycemic control in patients with T2D. As little as seven days of aerobic exercise has been shown to reduce PPG, but the mechanisms by which this occurs are not understood.
