Investigation And Comparison Of Sailing Yacht Keel Characteristics Through Experimental, Numerical And Empirical Methods

Tez (Yüksek Lisans) -- İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi, Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, 2002Thesis (M.Sc.) -- İstanbul Technical University, Institute of Science and Technology, 2002Bu çalışmada, yelkenli yatların hidrodinamik karakteristikleri (yan kuvvet ve direnç) deneysel, sayısal ve ampirik yöntemlerle incelenmiş ve bir model üzerinde uygulaması yapılmıştır. Deneysel çalışmada çıkan sonuçlar modele dalıp-çıkma ve baş-kıç vurma özelliği veren ve altı bileşenli dinamometre kullanılarak elde edilen sistemin kullanılmasıyla oluşmaktadır. Sayısal yöntem ise üç boyutlu basit bir hidrofoil yapısının hidrodinamik karakteristiklerini potansiyel teori içerisinde panel yöntemi ile incelenmesine dayanmaktadır. Dolayısıyla hidrofoil yapısı yat formuna dönüştürülmüştür. Bunun için de yat formu belirli bir ölçekle bilgisayar destekli bir tasarım programıyla modellenmiş ve sonra sayısal programa yerleştirilmiştir. Ampirik formül ise diğer iki yöntemin sonuçlarının yanında üçüncü bir referans noktası olmuştur. Üç yöntemle elde edilen sonuçlar karşılaştırılmasıyla,meyil açısının artışıyla direncin fazla artmadığı, sürüklenme açısıyla yan kuvvetin arttığı ve sekiz dereceden sonra direncin artışının daha fazla olduğu, Froude sayısıyla yan kuvvet katsayısında fazla değişim oluşmadığı gözlenmiştir.In this study the hydrodynamic characteristics (side force and resistance) of sailing yacht are investigated according to experimental, numerical and empirical methods. The outputs of experimental method occur through use of system that has six components dynamometer and provides to model free heave and pitch. Numerical method is based on the calculation of hydrodynamic characteristics of 3-D hydrofoils in potential flow theory by using the panel methods. Therefore the hydrofoil form is transformed to the yacht form. First the yacht form is designed in a CAD program on the scale and then inserted the numerical program. Empirical method was used for as a third reference point. The comparison of the result is observed that the increase of resistance is not changed so much by the increase of heel angle, the increase of leeway angle leads to the increase of hydrodynamic lift, the increase of resistance is higher after eight leeway degree, the hydrodynamic lift (side force) coefficient does not change considerably according to Froude number.Yüksek LisansM.Sc
