Production And Characterization Of Mo-n-cu, Mo-n-sn And Mo-n-cu-sn Nanocomposite Coatings

Tez (Yüksek Lisans) -- İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi, Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, 2010Thesis (M.Sc.) -- İstanbul Technical University, Institute of Science and Technology, 2010Bu çalışmada, Spark Plazma Sinterleme (SPS) yöntemi ile üretilen Mo-Cu, Mo-Sn ve Mo-Cu-Sn hedef malzemelerden, manyetik alanda sıçratma tekniği kullanılarak Mo-N-Cu, Mo-N-Sn ve Mo-N-Cu-Sn nanokompozit kaplamalar elde edilmiştir. Kaplama üretim aşamasında kullanılan BIAS voltajı ve kaplama atmosferinin (Ar, N2) kaplama içeriğine olan etkisi incelenmiştir. BIAS voltajı arttıkça kaplamalara giren Cu ve Sn miktarlarının azaldığı gözlenmiştir. N2 atmosferine Ar ilavesinin Mo, Cu ve Sn sıçratma verimlerini arttırdığı tespit edilmiştir. Saf Mo-N kaplamanın kesitten alınan SEM görüntüsünde görülen kolonsal yapı, Cu ve Sn ilavesiyle yok olmakta ve yerine daha yoğun bir yapı ortaya çıkmaktadır. Formüle yağ ortamında gerçekleştirilen aşınma deneylerinde Cu ve Sn’ın ayrı ayrı katkılandırıldığı kaplamalarda saf Mo-N kaplamaya göre sürtünme katsayısını olumlu etkilerken, Mo-N-Cu-Sn kaplama olumsuz etkilenmiştir. Gerek kaplamalarda, gerekse karşıt malzeme olarak kullanılan çelik pinlerde herhangi bir aşınma izine rastlanmamıştır. Kaplamalar ve yağın içerisindeki katkılar arasında gerçekleşen tribokimyasal reaksiyonlar sonucu yüzeylerde oluşan koruyucu tribofilmlerin aşınmayı engellediği düşünülmektedir.In this study, Mo-N-Cu, Mo-N-Sn and Mo-N-Cu-Sn nanocomposite coatings were produced from Mo-Cu, Mo-Sn and Mo-Cu-Sn targets that are sintered using Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) method. The effect of BIAS voltage and coating atmosphere (Ar, N2) on the composition of coatings were investigated. The increase of BIAS voltage resulted in a decrease in the amount of Cu and Sn in the coatings. It was also seen that the addition of Ar to N2 atmosphere has increased the sputter yield of Mo, Cu and Sn. The columnar structure that was seen on the cross section of pure Mo-N coating has disappeared with the addition of Cu and Sn, a dense and featureless morphology was observed instead. The wear tests done with formulated oil showed that the addition of Cu and Sn individually has a beneficial effect on the coefficient of friction. On the contrary, Mo-N-Cu-Sn coating showed a higher coefficient of friction compared to pure Mo-N. There wasn’t any wear scars detected on the coatings or on the steel pins that were used as a counter part. It is thought that the wear was hindered with the tribofilm formation on the surfaces derived from the tribochemical reactions occuring between the coatings and the oil additives.Yüksek LisansM.Sc
