Research Of The Usage Of Fine-sized Silica Sand For High Quality Glass Production

Tez (Yüksek Lisans) -- İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi, Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, 2010Thesis (M.Sc.) -- İstanbul Technical University, Institute of Science and Technology, 2010The fine sized fraction (-106 µ) in the glass sand flits in glass furnaces due to the high temperature and dynamic condition within, and cause intense deformation (thermal load) by penetrating the voids of furnace refractory and regeneration strings used to recycle heat. In the thesis study titled “Research of the usage of fine-sized silica sand of high quality glass production”, it is aimed to reduce the amount of fine size fraction by agglomeration of washed Kiraztepe sand from Camiş Madencilik Yalıköy sand preparation plant and hence to avert an industrial problem. In the experiments conducted with sodium silicate, the fine size material was reduced in satisfactory amounts and also the effect of size enlargement was investigated during glass production schedule (melting and bubble removing). It was determined that, in case of reducing the amount of +1mm material that formed due to undesired agglomeration, it will be possible to solve this industrial problem with the use of sodium silicate by size enlargement (agglomeration).Cam kumu içerisindeki ince tane boyutlu malzeme (-106µ) cam fırınlarında, fırın içindeki yüksek sıcaklık ve dinamik ortam nedeni ile uçuşmakta ve fırın refrakter yapısının, ısı geri kazanımı için kullanılan rejeneratör dizgisinin boşluklarına nüfus ederek burada yarattıkları termal yük nedeni ile şiddetli deformasyona neden olmaktadırlar. Kaliteli cam üretiminde küçük tane boyutlu silis kumu kullanımının araştırılması isimli tez çalışması kapsamında, çeşitli bağlayıcılar kullanılarak, Camiş Madencilik Yalıköy Kum Hazırlama Tesisi’nde üretilen Yıkanmış Kiraztepe Kumu içerisindeki ince tane boyutlu malzeme miktarının boyut büyütme (aglomerasyon) işlemi ile azaltılması, bu sayede endüstriyel bir sorunun bertaraf edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bağlayıcı olarak sodyum silikatın kullanıldığı deneylerde ince tane boyutlu malzeme miktarında muazzam bir iyileşme elde edilmiş ve devamında da bu durumun cam üretimi sırasında ergime süresi, kabarcık oluşumu açısından nasıl bir etkisi olduğu araştırılmıştır. İstenmeyen birleşmelerden kaynaklanan +1mm malzeme miktarının azaltılması durumunda sodyum silikat ile yapılan boyut büyütme (aglomerasyon) işleminin cam üretimindeki ince tane boyutlu malzemeden kaynaklanan problemlerin çözümü için kullanılabileceği tespit edilmiştir.Yüksek LisansM.Sc
