Despite the economic benefits generated by the development of Canada’s oil sands, the controversy over the sector has been substantial. Given the influential role stakeholder perspectives plays in the economic future of the industry and it’s related policy decisions, a systematic study was conducted. Using Q Methodology, a selected group of individuals from a variety of professionals engaged in oil sands development through their work were interviewed. The use of factor analysis reveals three perspective groups, and allows us to identify areas of consensus and contention. The results are discussed in the context of the future economic viability and growth of the oil sands sector
