Partial decision variables exploit the code diversity available in a code division multiple access system by detecting the received signal over different portions of the signaling interval to produce multiple decision intervals. Decision variables can then be weighted using adaptive filtering techniques, improving signal to interference plus noise ratio. In this thesis, we integrate the partial decision variable technique with multiple antennas to further improve performance by exploiting spatial diversity without greatly increasing the complexity of the system.
