Renewable energy systems were introduced in remote areas because of their energy self reliance. They found many applications, water pumping being one of them. Monthly energy balance techniques is the commonly used method for sizing the renewable energy systems. The stochastic nature of the energy sources reduce greatly the reliability of these systems. To remedy this problem, the systems are usually oversized. Complementary behaviour in time has been observed in many occasions between different types of renewable energy. It is possible to take advantage of this by combining them into hybrid systems. With the help of a simulation software the behaviour of such hybrid pumping water systems was investigated.
